Weekly Report 10: Planning Proactively

I’m actually writing this weekly report over a week in advance, but I promise I have a reason for doing so. In my life outside of ISM, I am getting my wisdom teeth removed on February 12 and the following week I am headed to Dallas for the Texas DECA State Competition. My competition category actually aligns decently with management consulting since my category is entrepreneurship team decision making. My partner and I get an unseen scenario with 30 minutes of preparation time before we go in and give a 15 minute pitch together on subjects ranging from human resource management to launching a new line of products. In some ways, this could be perceived as continually building my business analytics skills. In an effort to stay on top of my work right now, I decided to write an update in advance.
I had an illuminating conversation with my mentor last week and now I know which areas I’d like to focus on and how I want to organize my flowchart. I am also excited to share that I have been helping my other mentor Mr. Vargas with creating formats for the free response questions on the AP Spanish Literature exam. This is particularly fascinating to me since I took this very exam last year and now am able to help the next year of students be successful. Overall, I hope to get back in the swing of things quickly after my wisdom teeth procedure and I’m looking forward to the rest of this semester.
