Weekly Report 4: Halfway Through Semester One

As of last week, we officially began the second quarter of the school year. I cannot believe that it has already been nine full weeks since the start of school. This quarter is going to be really busy, but I have a pretty solid plan about what I want to accomplish.

First of all, I would like to confirm my mentor, or I should probably say mentors. Since my topic is dual-faceted this year, I would like to have one language mentor and one business mentor. I have asked Mr. Vargas, my Spanish teacher of three years, to be one of my mentors, since I can develop resources to help students studying Spanish understand the language better and be motivated to apply their Spanish in community settings. On the other hand, I would love for Neha Jain to be my mentor on the business side. She is an ex-Senior Consultant at Deloitte and will be able to help me work through case studies, presentations, and consulting techniques. I aim to combine both of these learnings in order to create a book of sorts as my original work.

In this book, I would like to touch on important casing strategies but also what business, markets, and daily life looks like in some of the most prominent world cultures. This way I can depict how business looks in different parts of the world, aligning perfectly with my aspiration for an international business career while filling a knowledge gap regarding cultural awareness in our community.

I am very excited to work on this throughout the quarter and begin conducting interviews with professionals.
