Weekly Report 5: Wait! How Are We Already At Symposium?

These past nine weeks have flown by faster than I could have imagined. While that is overwhelming, I am also so excited to start interviews and hopefully find a mentor soon. I actually started reaching out to a few professionals this past week, and I got my very first response from a man named Jose Herreria, who is an ISM alumni that I met at the symposium. I was a bit nervous to start cold emailing, but once I was confident that my template was professional, it was not as daunting. He will be starting a role as a consultant at Bain soon, so I am very excited to hear from him.

In both of my interviews at the symposium, I was pleasantly surprised by how interested my interviewers seemed to be in my passions and future plans. I gained many helpful recommendations about how to build my resume and professional profile. It was also very interesting to hear about my interviewers’ own stories and experiences that led them to their current jobs.

I was in awe of the presentations by the ISM 2 students because they were so engaging and well-delivered. I hope that over the course of my ISM journey, I can also develop such strong presentation skills. Overall, being at the symposium made me feel more immersed in the ISM world, and I am looking forward to diving into interviews and my original work.
